The Department of Afroamerican and African Studies puts on the Africa Workshop annually. It features several speakers and events pertaining to Africa. For this year, the highlight even was the retirement of Professor Elisha Renne. Professor Renne worked with textiles in a lot of her work. I wanted to reflect her work in the poster. After some brainstorming, I thought it would be interesting to combine different African textiles to represent the countries in Africa. Additionally, it references a quilt in that separate pieces come together to make a whole. The Africa graphic was well received as several faculty requested the graphic to use in their course materials.
